How we ensure your remote and local IT and accounting teams collaborate across countries.
Typically, business leaders that are new to outsourcing approach us with similar goals that they want to achieve by engaging offshore talent in the Philippines. These goals may be familiar to you?
- A desire to lower their IT and accounting costs by up to 70%.
- Fill roles that are hard to recruit locally.
- Ditch the frustration of endless recruitment cycles caused by high staff turnover.
- Save time that’s currently wasted constantly training new employees.
- Redirect salary savings into growth related activities.
And yet, when business leaders who’ve experienced outsourcing approach us, their objectives are similar, yet more nuanced. While they want the same things as those new to outsourcing, they know that achieving these goals requires a more strategic set of outcomes.
Here’s what they know to ask:
1. Give Us Dedicated, Non-Transferable Talent
They want to know that we can give them IT and / or accounting talent that will only work for them. Why? They know success comes from building one combined and collaborative team: locally and in the Philippines.
Most of us prefer to collaborate with people we know well and like. When we share a working culture things become easier, happier, simpler, faster, better. Unfortunately, many outsourcers fail to grasp this. They move talent between clients as it helps them. Their clients are left to pick up the tab. Suddenly, the person running your accounts isn’t the person who ran them yesterday. The IT support analyst you’ve relied upon has vanished only to be replaced by someone you don’t know and can’t yet trust.
We never move talent – not once in Yempo’s 10-year history. Assigned staff are hired specifically for your account. You engage in the recruitment process. This ensures candidates have an opportunity to understand your culture and integrate with your onshore team.
2. Find us talent we want, not who’s on your bench.
Many of our clients are business owners. They’ve taken great care to recruit employees who fit their businesses. This is a disconnect with how less reputable outsourcers operate. They have a ‘bench’ of people who they assign to accounts.
Clients get who they are given, not who they want.
We believe that business leaders and business owners must be able to select their own remote employees (albeit team members technically work for Yempo under our registration as an Employer of Record in the Philippines).
We don’t have benchwarmers. Instead, we agree job descriptions with our clients and recruit to fit.
Our clients take part in interviews and have the final say over who’s dedicated to their business.
3. Take care of HR and IT provision but let us have a say.
If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to foil attempts to build one team, two countries, it’s vastly different treatment of local and offshore IT (or offshore accounting) staff. Clients that have moved their offshore teams in the Philippines to Yempo have told us that super-low-cost providers have:
- Failed to supply specified IT equipment.
- Delivered sub-standard working environments.
- Failed to fix high staff turnover challenges because they pay badly.
- Made them and their team members feel uncomfortable with how staff are treated.
At Yempo, we ensure fair pay and conditions. We aim to match the employee experiences of your local and offshore teams. We do this in two ways:
i) benchmarking local salaries and providing exceptional employee benefits.
ii) asking you – our clients – to tell us what benefits you’d like matched across teams.
The result is that our clients experience low staff turnover rates. Yempo has an excellent Glassdoor rating.
In terms of payroll, we are unique in the Philippines in that we run a weekly payroll instead of twice monthly. It’s our most popular benefit!
4. Tell us how you back us up, keep us legal, and help us run a fuss-free remote team.
‘You get what you pay for’ is never truer than in the world of outsourcing. When the norm is ‘cost savings’ those new to outsourcing can miss how some providers connive to create prices that punch. Their clients’ savings sugar rushes often turn bitter…fast. Leaders who are experienced with outsourcing ask questions that include:
- How do you help us if someone doesn’t perform?
- How do you help us to stay compliant with Philippine employment laws.
- What’s your end-to-end process? What are we expected to do? What do you do?
What these questions flush out is the professionalism (or not) of each provider’s internal team.
Yempo isn’t the cheapest supplier of remote talent in the Philippines. Why? We maintain a central team of business support experts and HR specialists so that our clients can just get on with running their businesses. For example:
We have an experienced Talent Acquisition (TA) Team that our clients love working with, headed up by Des, our TA manager. Once you become a client you will be introduced to Des, and she will allocate your vacancies to one of her team. You will work directly with them throughout the recruitment process; the first step will be a kick-off meeting where timelines and actions will be outlined.
5. What’s included in your costs, what’s not?
Business leaders that are familiar with outsourcing practices know to ask (and get documented) exactly what’s in a price and what is not. Why? Because they’ve been burned by ‘extras’ that have been lumped on top of figures they’ve already inked into their budgets.
Examples:
- Charges for meeting rooms.
- Extras for IT.
- More £s and $s for support from HR team members.
- Passing on of uncosted pay rises.
We have a truly clear pricing policy. There are no setup fees with Yempo and no recruitment fees. We agree a set monthly fee with you that includes your choices of employee benefits (all our already receive a comprehensive package…but you may want to enhance this). We invoice you monthly in your currency and you pay into a UK or Australian account. No VAT is payable on our services as you don’t engage with a UK or AU entity.
Once you sign a Master Services Agreement, we start the recruitment process, and you don’t commit to anything or pay anything until you approve us to hire someone for your account.
That’s it.
