Delivering Service With Yempo Core Values
Spending eight hours a day five days a week at work shows one’s discipline. But spending these hours with fervour towards a goal shows dedication. At Yempo, we create an environment where team members are challenged to bring their A-game every single day not because they are obliged to but because it’s a second nature to them.
Guided by the company’s core values, each member of the Yempo family works with enthusiasm that’s evident in how they handle challenges in their daily tasks. We asked some employees about commitment, excellence, and community, and here’s what they have to say.
COMMITMENT
“Working for Yempo is a challenging and rewarding experience for me. My first day was spent in Sydney with our client. Coming back, we were given tasks that involved an in-depth knowledge of the system we were to test. Upon realizing the goal to make an impact to the port community (Australia and Philippines), I inevitably strived for excellence by exhausting all available resources given to us. We had to resort doing some processes along with the team and proceed with the most efficient way in terms of communication, reporting, and consultation. The project was finished on time and with flying colours. Knowing the value and the impact of what we are doing is crucial in striving for commitment and excellence.” – Marbien “Bien” Parel, Test Analyst
“As a new member of the team, I have taken into consideration their current processes and people working on them while working through Quality. Instead of making it just my own commitment, I had the entire team involved with our newly developed procedures. I am blessed to be working with committed individuals. Even if the ride is bumpy, when people deliver their own tasks not as an obligation but as dedication, it keeps the team alive and makes everything possible.” – Kristine ‘Ktine’ Amores, Customer Service Trainer/QA
“Being one of the people who is authorized to engage with clients, I have to be firm, strict in implementing processes and procedures, and be consistent in communication and providing a good customer experience. When I commit something to a client, co-workers, and/or community, I make sure that it is timely done through proper planning, clarity of information, and proper assessment and allocation of resources. One time, I made a commitment to send a newsletter the next day. However, there were issues encountered by the assigned person. Even if I didn’t have much knowledge about the tool, I stepped in, researched, and was able to fix the issues. Consequently, it was sent on time as committed. I go above and beyond especially in times when commitment is foreseen to be compromised. After all, I represent the company and my failure would reflect the image of the company.” – Jeff Mante, Solutions Delivery Manager
EXCELLENCE
“From the wise words of Aristotle, ‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.’ So yes, I dare say that we are aiming for this in our respective roles because anyone’s capable of something better and striving to do better little by little regularly, which ultimately results in excellence. Otherwise, we would not be where we are now. Some may say it’s too early to tell (or not), but for me, we are journeying a step closer to the path of success we seek.” – Gigie Antolijao, Accounts Staff
“I have worked collaboratively with my team or my counterpart in Australia to set standards and procedures that achieve a high level of quality, productivity, or service. I ensure excellence through strong work ethic, just simply working diligently on the clock, and by showing respect to my colleague. Striving for excellence is an important factor of professionalism, and that’s what Yempo is offering to their clients – being professional.”–Stef Coritico, Accounts Payable Supervisor
“As our team is client-facing, it is imperative that we demonstrate excellence in everything that we do by combining business strategy, processes, people, and knowledge towards one goal – customer satisfaction. It is of great significance to: set plans and strategize; have consistency in adhering to business processes and be proactive when you think of something that may improve the process; have self-confidence and believe that we can do it; expand our knowledge and learn from other people to serve our client even better; and work really hard and be adaptable.” – Leia Agustin, Team Leader
“I ensure excellence in my day-to-day tasks by practicing to eliminate errors from previous tasks. At the same time, I can see co-workers studying and finding ways to improve their work.” – Justin Bringas
COMMUNITY
“When I moved here to the Philippines I was surprised about the community that is among the Philippine colleagues to Yempo and outside. In the Netherlands, a job is a job and after that it is private life only. I had to get used to the fact that colleagues are empowered by working for a company and I realized that inside Yempo it was easy to follow this pattern. Besides that, I was surprised to see that many of our colleagues are participating Yempo’s social events, but also organize these themselves. Yes, we give money to charity in the Netherlands, but I never handed it over by myself by going there. In my 1st year I went to a homeless centre and last year I went to a hospice for children with cancer. I didn’t sleep great the night before, since I was nervous and scared to go there. ‘So many sad people’ is what I thought. But being there, handing out gifts, join in with dances (baby shark tadatata), I saw the happiness in each one of them and had a great time doing something for people who are less fortunate than us/me.” – Ronnie Van Gelder, Site Manager
“I enjoy participating in Yempo’s activities because aside from the fact that all the activities were relevant to the theme, it’s also one way of uniting us all employees across different sites. Even though we support different clients and face different challenges on our work, we could still find time to relax and relish. It’s really a helpful way if engaging us and I always look forward to every upcoming activity that Yempo holds. It makes work FUN!” – Julie Samson, Recruitment Assistant
“I can definitely see that the admin team always work together, even when the tasks at hand are outside their job description. We all feel empowered to be more than our designation. We collaborate to make sure that the event is a success and people are enjoying it. For instance, last outreach program, the admin team visited Everlasting Hope, a home for children with cancer. It felt so amazing making these kids happy just by visiting them, playing with them, and basically having a great time. Not only do I enjoy it, it also feels fulfilling to be a part of a company that cares about the community.” – Ione Enriquez, Sr. Lead – Global Talent Acquisition
