Employee Spotlight: Rad

This month, the spotlight falls on Rad, the Process Lead in Administration at Yempo. What was supposed to be a calm and usual year for a Website Developer in 2021 became a big breakthrough, as he was pushed to step up to successfully lead a small team to improve and survive. Many months later, Rad has thrived amid the challenges and became a member of the Yempo Administration as Process Lead. Read on to learn more about his Yempo experience.

Can you describe your role at Yempo?

As Process Lead my focus is to evaluate, analyze, and recommend improvements to keep business processes optimal and efficient. Using automation, development tools, and process improvement methodologies, my goal is to basically make life easier for everyone.

When did you start working at Yempo?

I started working for Yempo 5 years ago as a web developer for a client. Yempo just kickstarted SMS back then and they were having a tough time with their web development projects, so I was transferred in to handle them.

Can you share any latest projects you’re working on in 2022?

The team I was working in was at its tipping point when our Director resigned, our Operations Manager was out for maternity leave, plus the surge of the Delta variant. I was appointed as the officer in charge of a large part of the team’s operation. I was able to implement changes in the daily management system, improve workflows, build a mentality for continuous improvement, and create metrics for the team and management.

Yempo’s open-plan layout I believe is a testament to its culture. Open to discussions, open to ideas, open to innovation.

What do you love most about your job?

I consider my current role in Yempo as pioneering since it is mostly found in high-level service companies. I love that Yempo is giving me this opportunity to perform as my skillset allows.

What are your strongest skills?

I would say persistence and ingenuity. My fondness of debugging, looking for a better solution, and always trying to make it simple, has been an easy transfer from Web Development to Process Management.

What was a challenge you experienced at Yempo and how was it solved?

SMS was at its tipping point when our Director resigned, our Operations Manager was out for maternity leave, plus the surge of the Delta variant. I was appointed as the next man up. I was able to implement changes in the daily management system, improve workflows, build a mentality for continuous improvement, and create metrics for the team and management. We were able to survive and even slowly crawl back up until team dissolution.

What do you like best about Yempo’s culture?

Yempo’s open cubicles I believe are a testament to its culture. Open to discussions, open to ideas, open to innovation.

Which core value (commitment, excellence, community) is the most important to you? Why?

Excellence. This core value of Yempo does not just apply to work but to everyday life as well. We always want to become better versions of ourselves, a better employee, better family member, better at cooking, better at budgeting money, and a better friend.

Where do you see your career 5 years from now?

I see myself still improving business processes, but on a much higher scale.

Do you have quotes, advice, or mottos that you follow that might inspire other Yempo employees?

Here goes:

  • If it’s working, it doesn’t mean it’s efficient.
  • A problem well defined is a problem half solved.
  • You can’t improve what you can’t measure.
  • Great leaders make themselves redundant.
  • Work not because there is work to be done, but because there is a problem and you can provide the solution.
