This month, the light shines on Marian, our Employee Relations and Diversity Specialist in Administration in the Cebu office. In her role, Marian maintains good employee relations to lessen conflicts in the workplace, boost employee morale and increase productivity. As a diversity officer, she also creates strategies and implements programs to create an inclusive work environment.
Can you describe your role at Yempo?
My role entails mediating between the staff and Yempo management, and ensuring efficient and effective communication across all channels and levels of the company.
How long have you been working here?
I started at Yempo on October 08, 2018.

People contact me about policy inquiries, performance reviews and employee grievances.
Can you share any projects you plan to work on in 2020?
These top 3 things come to mind:
- Employee handbook refreshers
- Analyzing and documenting internal processes
- Execution of company policies
What do you love most about your job?
The opportunity to work with diverse groups of people and having the capability to support employees and clients to reach business objectives are aspects of the job that keep me passionate.
What are your strongest skills?
My strong interpersonal skills allow me to relate with people from different backgrounds.
What was a challenge you experienced at Yempo and how was it solved?
One challenge I faced was modifying what I learned over the years in a strict BPO setting to fit Yempo’s more flexible culture. I overcame this challenge by making a conscious effort to make personal and professional adjustments.
What do you like best about the Yempo culture?
The sense of belonging and that “welcome home” feeling, even during my interview.
